This family was undertaking major drainage improvements in their backyard. Positioned on a shallow hill, upslope runoff and excess soil moisture kept part of the yard damp. Other parts of the space were shaded by tall spruce trees, and a nearby willow was appropriating soil moisture from the surrounding area and kept the turf grass sparce.
After contracting another local business to manage the excavation and drainage components of the project - including removing a driveway and installing a rain garden basin - the landowners contacted Shoreview Natives to assist with plant selection and design. Shoreview Natives staff installed biodegradable mulching mat across disturbed areas and staged the plants, and helped get the landowners started as they installed over 1,000 seedlings.
We can't wait to see how these plants expand and fill the space this summer!
